Telethon Details

Since 1975, Iowans have joined together to contribute their time, talent and hearts to the annual Variety Telethon.  The telethon is the foundation that Variety of Iowa was built upon and is the highlight of our year.  On March 3 & 4, 2012, ABC5 will broadcast this weekend event throughout Central Iowa.  Variety’s Telethon will also be aired simultaneously on KCAU in Sioux City and WHBF in the Quad Cities. 

Each year, a line-up of local, national and international personalities appear along with thousands of volunteers, individual donors and companies, like Hy-Vee, who continue to give their time and money to support Iowa’s children.  The telethon provides Variety the opportunity to highlight the kids that will ultimately benefit from the dollars raised.

On March 5 - 9, KWWL will raise awareness and dollars during their weekly morning, noon and 5:00 newscasts.  On Saturday, March 10, the telethon in Eastern Iowa will conclude with a 60-minute special.
