Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the heart of the Variety Telethon.  We offer “behind the scenes” opportunities the week and weekend of our broadcast, such as set up, tear down, greeters, concessions and more.

We also have a number of volunteer opportunities ...

Telethon Transportation:

The transportation committee does a "Variety" of things.  Some of those duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with meeting the cast at the airport, welcoming them to Iowa.
• Assisting with luggage as needed (at the airport only, not at the hotel)
• Escorting cast members to any outside interview or meetings during their stay.
• Driving shuttle vehicles to and from the hotel, production facility, dinners, etc., for cast and production staff
• Running necessary errands on behalf of the cast or the Production committee.
• Staffing transportation/information tables at the hotel and production facility.

Dates/Times:
Friday night - 6 people from approximately 6pm to 10pm
Saturday morning - 5 people from 10:30am to 4pm
Saturday afternoon - 9 people from 4pm to 8pm
Saturday evening - 9 people from 8pm to 2:30am
Sunday morning - 7 people from 5:30am to 8:30am
Sunday morning 7 people from 8am to noon
Sunday afternoon 7 people from noon to 7pm

NOTE: Transportation committee volunteers must be 25 years old with a valid driver's license to drive a vehicle, or 21 for a non-driving position.

General Volunteers:

Loggers (need 1 person per shift) help log what is happening on stage and the amount of the toteboard throughout the entire Telethon.
Saturday, 8-10pm, 10p-12a, 12a-2a
Sunday, 6-8a, 8-10a, 10-12p, 12p-2p, 2-4p, 4-6p

Kitchen help (need 4 people pre shift) serve food, clean tables, stock needed items
Saturday, 8-10pm, 10p-12a, 12a-2a
Sunday, 6-8a, 8-10a, 10-12p, 12p-2p, 2-4p, 4-6p

Go-To Team  - these are the runners/ give information/ help with where ever we need them (need 2 people per shift)
Saturday 7-10pm, 10p-12a
Sunday 5-8a, 8-11a, 11a-2p, 2-5p

Tear-down
Sunday 6-8pm
